“Life is a series of natural and spontaneous changes, do not resist them, that only creates sorrow. Let reality be reality. Let things flow naturally forward in whatever way they like.”
Lao Tse

Counselling and Psychotherapy – sometimes also known as Talking Therapies - can be helpful to us at many times in our lives and with many problems, whether we are dealing with major life changes, struggling with aspects of our personality, feeling deeply unhappy or just feeling dissatisfied with life and ourselves.

As a counsellor I am trained to listen empathically and non-judgementally and to assist you in finding the answers and solutions to whatever is troubling you within a confidential and ethical setting.

Counselling and pyschotherapy may be helpful in treating the following conditions:
  • depression,
  • anxiety,
  • obsessive compulsive disorder (OCD),
  • long-term illnesses,
  • eating disorders, such as anorexia nervosa and bulimia,
  • substance abuse.
  • Bereavement
  • Spiritual crisis

But it can also be used to help us to understand who we are, why we are as we are and to develop more fully into the person we have the potential to be

Counselling can help people:
  • discuss their problems honestly and openly,
  • deal with issues that are preventing them from achieving their goals and ambitions, and
  • have a more positive outlook on life.

There are many models of counselling and psychotherapy and I work with Person Centred Theory at the core of my practice. This puts the client at the centre of the process, and recognises that they are the expert on themselves and empowers them to find their own answers. However, I also have training and experience in working in other models including Transactional Analysis, Gestalt, Psychosynthesis and CBT and work with dreams, archeytypes, inner child work, vizualisation and mediation and relaxation techniques. As a result I am able to include other ways of working and to work in a way that is most appropriate for each individual client and their particular issues.

Because of my experience with many aspects of spirituality and spiritual practice I am also able to offer a deep spiritual aspect to the work, which can enrich and deepen the experience of counselling and psychotherapy.

I am a member of the British Association of Counselling and Psychotherapy, and have worked in a GP practice, in an agency specialising in eating disorders, trained with CRUSE bereavment care and have worked in private practice for three years. I have an advanced diploma in counselling, Post Graduate Diploma in Counselling and I am currently studying for my MSc. I have also attended training in self-harm, conflict resolution, working with victims of abuse, child protection, stress management and dual diagnosis and have a particular interest in spiritual crisis.

I work with individuals both long and short term and offer discounts for students in training and those on low incomes.
